My story? Well I have been watching Korean dramas for about four years now and have never looked back. I started my journey into this addictive world one night while browsing tumblr. I had just finished another TV show and was on the hunt for something new and fresh. Then, out of nowhere a gif set appears. Park Shin Hye and Lee Min Ho are driving along the California coast. Most people know what drama I’m talking about. The Heirs.
Since then I have not cast my eyes back to the old days. I find myself immersed in the world of Asian drams. When it comes to Korean dramas I find myself restricted to the newly airing dramas because it has become hard for me to find a drama I have not watched.
Over the years I have found myself branching out and exploring the world of dramaland. Currently, I watch Japanese dramas, Chinese dramas, Taiwanese dramas, Thai dramas and Filipino dramas. I have found that I’m not typically fussy about a dramas content. I do have some tropes which will make some dramas an instant watch (gender benders, supernatural, high school) while I tend to shy away from others (historical, horror), but it depends on which country produced each drama. I’m also a total sucker for remakes of older/popular dramas, but I do tend to choose dramas based on the actors.
As for my other interests I am currently studying and English Literature and Creative Writing degree which means when I’m not binging on dramas I’m either working my way through my reading lists for the many modules I have or writing my own stories (which are typically inspired by some of my favorite drama characters). Through my journey, I have also found my music playlist being overtaken by the likes of BTS and the countless other kpop groups I have fallen in love with over the years.
One of the things I love most is pushing my favorite dramas on others, so if you are willing to listen to me ramble on and fangirl I hope you stay with me. Thanks for taking the time to read my nonesense.
